CEO and Chief Investment Officer
John Kaaiohelo is a Partner and Chief Executive Officer of BOD Tech Ventures. For the last 15 years, John has lived in Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Within these markets, John has worked across corporate venture capital, M&A, and hedge funds. He has served as an Independent Non-Executive Director for Southeast Asian companies within e-sports, proptech, and fintech. Prior to BOD Tech Ventures, John served as Special Advisor to the Chief Investment Officer of Telenor Digital Businesses.
John is proud to say that he's motorcycled the entire length of Vietnam, all of northern Thailand up to Myanmar, much of Cambodia, parts of Laos, and hitchhiked Yunnan. Outside of work, John remains deeply committed to social entrepreneurship. In 2018, John was named a Social Enterprise Fellow by the Singapore Centre for Social Enterprise.
John is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and earned his A.B. summa cum laude in History from Princeton University, and his A.M. in Regional Studies-East Asia from Harvard University, where he was named a Graduate Prize Fellow.
MIKE THAN TUN WIN
Founder and Chairperson
Born in Myanmar, Mike Than Tun Win moved to Singapore when he was eight years old and enrolled at the Victoria School. Mike went on to earn his Bachelor's of Business with a Major in Marketing and a Minor in Entrepreneurship from Nanyang Technological University. Mike returned to Myanmar in 2010, and has since founded eight companies across Singapore, Thailand and Myanmar within sectors as diverse as petrochemicals, logistics, and automotives. Mike's companies have since partnered with MNC's like GS Caltex, CNH Industrial, Continental A.G., Suzuki, Toyota and GS Yuasa. In 2015, Mike founded BOD Tech with the mission of "unleashing local entrepreneurship through technology and empowering the local community."
NYEIN CHAN SOE WIN
Nyein Chan Soe Win is an Executive Director of BOD Tech. He is proud of being a "starter." From 1999 to 2001, he founded and built Myanmar's second largest IT hardware distribution company. He migrated to Singapore in 2001 to study at Nanyang Technological University. Nyein Chan Soe Win spent 7 years with Chevron in Singapore before returning to Myanmar in 2013. Prior to BOD Tech, Nyein led Singapore-based regional payment company 2C2P's expansion into Myanmar until 2017. Under Nyein's leadership, 2C2P became not only a leader within Myanmar's payment space, but also a leading influencer of the country's fintech and e-commerce ecosystems.
Nyein Chan is the founding Board Member of the Blockchain Myanmar Association, and has a strong passion for fintech, blockchain, edtech, and technology's overall potential to benefit communities within emerging economies.
Mrs. Wai Wai is an Executive Director of BOD Tech and advises the Board on financial inclusion as well as matters of compliance. Wai Wai is currently the Managing Director of iKBZ, Myanmar's largest private insurance company. Under her leadership, iKBZ became not only Myanmar's largest private insurance company, but also continues to be its fastest growing.
Wai Wai graduated with Honours from Singapore Management University with a Bachelor's in Business Management.
DAVID S. LEE
David started his career at Goldman Sachs and then worked in investment management in both London and Hong Kong. He is the co-author of the first Asia focused business ethics textbook, Business Ethics: Ethical Decision Making and Cases, An Asia Edition (Cengage Learning Asia, 2019). David currently teaches courses in corporate law, corporate governance, fintech, and business ethics at the University of Hong Kong. He is also a co-instructor for a first-of-its-kind massive online open course (MOOC) hosted by edX, entitled Fintech Ethics and Risks.
David earned his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, his M.Sc. from the London School of Economics, his A.M. from Harvard University, and his A.B. cum laude from Brigham Young University. He is a lawyer and a CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) charterholder.
